My cinematography experience encompasses a wide range of projects, delivering for key funders such as RTÉ, BBC, BFI Network, Arts Council, and Creative Ireland. These projects have been shot not only within Ireland but also internationally, extending to the UK and as far-reaching as Nairobi, Kenya.

My debut feature, Girls & Boys, directed by Donncha Gilmore and supported by Screen Ireland, won Best Irish Independent Film at the Galway Film Fleadh and premiered in cinemas in September 2025.

With a background rooted in documentary, I like to approach projects with an experimental eye blended in an intimate realism.

Reviews & Features

— Girls & Boys Film Review, No More Workhorse, September 19, 2025' —

"Fionnuala McCormack, the cinematographer on this project, frames these interactions with a series of lingering close-ups, capturing their words with such a profound intimacy that each glance or twitch resonated as you become so enveloped within the scene."

— Girls & Boys Film Review, Film Ireland, October 3, 2025. —

“Visually, Gilmore and DOP Fionnuala McCormack create both a sense of intimacy and urgency; the camerawork is fluid and vibrant, mirroring the frenetic energy of a night out in the capital city.”

— Girls & Boys Film Review, Irish Times, September 17, 2025 —

“It’s impossible not to think of Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise: two young strangers, Charlie and Jace, sit beside one another in a library at Trinity College Dublin and then wander around on Halloween night, trading confidences that grow more intimate as the city blurs into the cinematographer Fionnuala McCormack’s enchanting neon version of the capital.”
